This Week's topic: Cherries!

I have now thrown out the idea of personal ads for this week's topic. Because we need to have a chat. Now for years we have heard talk of girls "getting their cherry popped" and for years, we have had many different thoughts and ideas of what it was exactly. After reading this weeks column, I want all of you to confident in the fact you now know what this means. Now what brought this up you may be asking yourself about now. Well, I belong to a list where people can ask questions and get information about sex and what not.

The Question asked:

"i read some comments and entries about this. But got a little curious. my boyfriend fingers me all the time, he goes at it pretty hard and deep. and i was just reading and found someone saying that their hymen hadn't broken yet and that she wanted it to so that it didn't happen during the time when they had sex.

i am a virgin. i have heard a lot of people also say, "he broke her cherry" or a bunch of stuff along those lines. can i have a little more information on the hymen and what happens and stuff.

thank you in advance."

My reply:

"...biologically, "getting your cherry popped" has to do with the head of the penis hitting the cervix not with losing your virginity..."

And what someone (not the girl that wrote in originally) replied to my comment, as I was totally wrong:

"the head of the penis will never reach the cervix, unless his dick is 15 inches long"

Sorry, if some guy came at me with a 15-inch penis…I would have to say good-bye. My response (and a more detailed explanation) to this person was the following:

"I am sorry to correct you here, but your statement is very miss leading and wrong. If the vagina was 15 inches long, and then we are to have the cervix, and the womb (uterus) - the female reproductive tract would be located somewhere in the upper chest or head region, which it is not. The average vagina is only 4 to 5 inches long. At the top of the vagina is the cervix. Also, the average penis is 5-6 inches when erect. This making it totally possible (and likely) that the average female's cervix will be hit with the head of a penis at some point of her life while having sexual intercourse."

In a later posting still on this topic the 15-inch penis person wrote:

"the hymen is located anywhere along your vagina, it's there to protect you from infections and the like. Any number of things can break it, like I broke mine when I was 8 because I did the splits. Chances are if your guy has fingered you deeply and it still hasn't broken, the only way you can break it is to use a dildo or just have sex."

My response to this comment?

"The hymen has two parts. Both are located at the bottom of your vagina. One is a membrane covering your vagina, and the other part is connective tissue that basically forms a ring on the lower most part of your vagina. The membrane covering has to be broken before you can even have your period. There is actually a condition where is membrane never tearss and a woman can have her period and never know it because the blood cannot get out. In cases like this, the hymen membrane has to be surgically removed. With the connective tissue part of your hymen, it can take awhile for it to break. It usually does not break totally the first time one has sexual intercourse. Over time having sex the hymen membrane is totally worn away and if it is not, after the birth of a child it will be gone. In your case, yes, doing things like splits can cause the tearing of the hymen membrane, but usually parts of it still remain."

So now that we all know what it means when a girl "gets her cherry popped" we can now continue on with life. And if anyone wanted to brush up on the basics of the female reproductive system, here is a diagram that I plucked from the Internet for you all!
